Perfect matched pair of vintage Philips E88CC (6922) audio tubes - Heerlen, Holland 1962 - Valvo Labeled - Strong NOS - Very rare

Product Summary

The "textbook Heerlen sound" has been referenced in several Soundlumia listings of Amperex Holland E88CC/6922 tubes, and many tube enthusiasts asked what that all means. So this is the answer: the late 1950s and early 1960s tone, the timeless Philips radio tone that many of us grew up listening to, the beginning of over a decade's excellence in sound, the classic tonal template for all the great (and greater) Amperex Holland/Philips E88CC tubes, including this gorgeous Valvo-labeled pair. Valvo was the Philips Germany division.

Sound Qualities

Made in Heerlen, Holland in 1962, these tubes naturally share all the remarkable characteristics of the "textbook" Amperex Holland house sound. The midrange presentation is transparent, natural and expansive, with a slight touch of warmth that illuminates your music. Bass is deep and well controlled and the accuracy feels very similar to the high end German E88CC's. Sound separation and clarity on these are nearly on par with the Amperex PQ (Premium Quality) tubes - you should hear absolutely nothing but the pure soul of your music and all of it when you use these tubes. To see how these tubes compare to the PQ tubes, please feel free to see our current listing of a wonderful pair of 1962's Amperex 6922 PQ tubes from the same year (1962) here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/266238657281

Appearance & cosmetic condition

This pair also stands out aesthetically among the vintage tubes. One of the tubes still has nearly 100% of the silkscreen and looks brand new and the other tube also has decent amount of paint & lettering remaining on the glass Heerlen date codes etched on glass are intact and visible on both tubes:

delta 2H2 (delta symbol = Heerlen, Holland2 = 1962, H = August, 2 = the 2nd week of the month
delta 2C1 (delta symbol = Heerlen, Holland2 = 1962, C = March, 1 = the first week of the month

Professional Tube Testing

Both tubes tested NOS on a Mercury 2000 tube tester with the following result (mutual conductance in uMhos):

Tube 1: 13,800/13,000
Tube 2: 13,700/12,700

Good tubes start at 7000 and new tubes (incl. NOS/NIB) 12,500 - 13,000, and the Mercury 2000's rated mutual conductance (nominal) for new tubes is 12,500. Test result can also be seen in the pictures. In case you wonder what all these numbers mean to your sound experience, it's actually quite straightforward: mutual conductance directly translates to a tube's ability to amplify sound so the higher the numbers the better.
