Tube Care & Handling

Vintage tubes should be handled with care. Always power equipment off and allow tubes to cool before installing or removing them. When possible, handle tubes by the base rather than pulling on the glass, and avoid bending or unnecessarily cleaning the pins.

Store unused tubes in a dry, protected location. Cosmetic variations, label wear, and other age-related characteristics are normal with authentic vintage stock and are documented in the product listing where relevant.

Il "suono Heerlen da manuale" è stato citato in diverse inserzioni Soundlumia di tubi Amperex Holland ECC82/12AU7, e molti appassionati di tubi si sono chiesti cosa significasse tutto ciò. Ecco la risposta: il tono della fine degli anni '50 e dei primissimi anni '60, l'inizio di oltre un decennio di eccellenza sonora, il modello tonale classico per tutti i grandi (e maggiori) tubi Amperex/Philips/Valvo/Miniwatt che sarebbero stati prodotti negli anni a venire, il tono radiofonico Philips senza tempo che molti di noi sono cresciuti ascoltando.

Ma c'è anche una versione "segreta" del suono Heerlen da manuale che pochissimi hanno sentito: tubi ECC186 (alias 7316 o 12AUWA) prodotti in Olanda (e SOLO in Olanda). Come versione migliorata del 7316/ECC186 progettata per computer, l'ECC186 ha un catodo speciale che permette al tubo di funzionare senza corrente anodica per lunghi periodi senza danni. Ricordi l'ultima volta che hai sentito parlare degli sfuggenti "tubi circuito?" Li stai guardando proprio ora! Sarebbe affascinante capire la tecnica dietro questo design speciale che ha reso il suono Heerlen così straordinario, ma le nostre orecchie da audiofili forse vogliono solo sapere che questa è la risposta ufficiale di Amperex Holland all'ECC802S di Telefunken e alla Serie 10M di Mullard. In altre parole, questi tubi competono e competono SOLO nella lega del Sacro Graal della famiglia 7316/ECC186.
